Vocation Website for the Discalced Carmelite Friars
We seek to respond to Christ's call by combining the
contemplative spirit with the active apostolate.  As
Carmelite brothers and priests, we serve the Church in
various ministries.  We staff four parishes, a retreat house,
a house of prayer, an Institute of Spirituality, and a mission
in Uganda, Africa.  We are also involved in spiritual
direction, hospital chaplaincy, prison ministry, and spiritual
assistance to Carmelite Nuns and Carmelite Seculars.

The name Carmelite derives
from Mt. Carmel, in the Holy
Land (near Haifa). It is the
location where the prophet
St. Elijah, and his followers,
lived and where God's
covenant with His people
was successfully defended
against idol worshippers.
